Economizer
An economizer is also known as free cooling is a Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC hereafter) system feature which will allow cool outside air to be used instead of running mechanical cooling when the ambient temperature is sufficiently cool enough ( usually below 55 deg Fahrenheit). This system option allows for economically cooling an application very economically hence the name “economizer”. Economizers are becoming increasingly popular. They are definitely a more green energy source than running mechanical cooling which tends to be less efficient and using a lot of electricity. Economizers have been used in commercial applications for the most part but are becoming more common on residential applications. The reason being is the energy efficiency of using an economizer.
