Edmonton AC Company – Why Homeowners Choose Heartland

Air conditioning installations involve electrical wiring, refrigerant lines, and integration with your existing furnace and ductwork. Getting it right requires more than just connecting a condenser to an air handler. It requires understanding how the whole system works together.

One team for the job

Heartland’s owner, Jaxon, holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta the same discipline that covers thermodynamics, heat transfer, and HVAC system design. He also holds a Journeyman Electrician Red Seal, which means the electrical side of your AC installation is handled by someone who’s trade-certified in that work, not just familiar with it.

You’re not dealing with a franchise

That combination means your AC system is properly sized for your home’s cooling load, correctly wired, and integrated with your furnace’s blower and ductwork for even cooling in every room.

Our Air Conditioning Services

Heartland handles the full range of residential AC work in Edmonton:

AC installation

Adding central air conditioning to a home that doesn’t have it, or upgrading an existing system. We size the unit to match your home’s square footage, insulation, and window exposure so you get consistent cooling without an oversized system cycling on and off.

AC repair

Refrigerant leaks, compressor issues, frozen coils, electrical faults, and thermostat problems. We diagnose the issue properly before recommending a fix, so you’re not paying for parts you don’t need.

AC replacement

If your air conditioner is over 10–15 years old, runs constantly without cooling effectively, or uses R-22 refrigerant (which is being phased out), replacement is likely the better path. Newer units are significantly more efficient and use modern refrigerants.

AC maintenance

A pre-season tune-up in late spring keeps your system running efficiently all summer. We check refrigerant levels, clean coils, inspect electrical connections, and make sure the system is ready to handle Edmonton’s warmest days.

Ductwork assessment

Your AC is only as good as the ductwork delivering the cool air. If certain rooms stay warm while others are cold, the issue may be undersized ducts, leaking connections, or poor airflow design — not the AC unit itself. We can evaluate your duct system and recommend improvements.

Not sure whether to call an AC specialist or try to handle it yourself? Here are some clear signals that it’s time to bring in a professional:

Your AC runs but the air isn’t cold. This usually points to low refrigerant, a failing compressor, or a frozen evaporator coil. All of these are fixable, but they won’t resolve on their own.
Warm spots throughout the house. If some rooms cool down and others don’t, the issue could be your ductwork, an undersized unit, or a blower that’s not pushing enough air. A proper diagnosis saves you from replacing a unit that might not be the problem.
The unit makes grinding, buzzing, or clicking noises. Mechanical sounds typically mean a component is wearing out a fan motor, a compressor bearing, or a relay. Catching it early avoids a full breakdown mid-summer.
Your energy bills spike during summer. An AC system losing efficiency draws more power to produce less cooling. If your summer electricity bills are climbing year over year, the unit is working too hard.
Your AC uses R-22 (Freon). R-22 is no longer manufactured in Canada, which makes repairs increasingly expensive as supply dwindles. If your unit still runs on R-22, replacement with a modern system is worth serious consideration.
